Stone crab tours offered out of Homosassa between October 15th and May 1st. Below are some key points to remember while booking your trip.
Stone crab trips usually run around a half day. Trips will start no later than 9 AM. Boat will return to the dock around 1 PM. Earlier returns will be at your discretion or the discretion of the captain depending on weather.
Your group will be able to help with gathering traps, harvesting stone crab claws, and re-baiting/resetting traps. Anyone on the trip is welcome to observe the process or jump in hands on. Our crew will complete all of the tasks necessary if your group is just coming to watch! Once all traps have been collected or the vessel limit of 2 gallons has been met, your group will return to the dock to experience the process of cooking the catch from the day. Your group will then enjoy a southern seafood boil lunch including corn, potatoes, sausage, shrimp, and stone crab claws.
Ice and bottled water will be provided. Please bring any drinks, snacks, or meals that you may want throughout the day. Coolers are encouraged!
Adult beverages are allowed on-board brought by anyone over the age of 21.
While all ages are welcome, we do not recommend bringing any stone crabbers under the age of 8. Children under 6 years of age are legally required to wear an appropriately sized, US Coast Guard approved life jacket at all times that the boat is not docked or anchored. Life jackets in multiple sizes will be available. Children must be attended by a parent at all times whether in the water or on the boat.
Captain Jim's license covers everyone on board. No fishing licenses are required for anyone individually in your party.
The traps that will be harvested during your trip are recreational traps owned by Captain Jim and his family. No stone crab claws will be sold at any time.
Pricing starts at $500 for up to 4 guests. Up to 2 additional guests can be added for $75 each with a max of 6 guests on board. A stone crab boil lunch will be included with every trip.
A 50% deposit will be taken at the time of booking to hold a reservation. The remainder of payment will be due before boarding.
100% of the deposit held, minus a $20 administrative fee, will be refunded for stone crab trip bookings cancelled up to 5 days before the reservation date.
Stone crab trip bookings cancelled less than 5 days before the reservation date will not receive a refund of their deposit.
In the event that the captain determines an inclement weather hazard for the day of a reservation, guests can attempt to rebook or 100% of the deposit will be refunded.
